Year 4 Herdwick
Anglo Saxons
Welcome to Year 4
Step into Herdwick Class and you’ll find a team of imaginative, inquisitive learners who love discovering new things every day. We’re storytellers, problem-solvers, explorers and creators—and we’re always ready for the next challenge!
This year we will be travelling back in time with the Romans, exploring the wonderous Architectural Drawing of Stephen Wiltshire, zooming across Europe, and investigating the how we can find out what animals eat by looking at their teeth. There’s never a dull moment in Year 4!
Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. We celebrate each other’s successes, learn from our mistakes, and take pride in being part of a supportive and hardworking class community.
Ms Zimmatore
This is my fourth year teaching at Shepherd Primary School, though I’ve spent many years teaching in the local area in a range of roles — from class teacher to senior leader. Having grown up and gone to school in Rickmansworth, joining Shepherd really did feel like coming home!
Alongside teaching Herdwick Class, I’m the Assistant Head for Curriculum, Teaching and Learning, as well as Leading English and Music. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll probably find me reading (especially children’s books—ask me for a recommendation!), exploring the outdoors, or visiting museums and art galleries.
Wellbeing

In our classroom, everyone’s wellbeing matters. We support one another, work in a variety of groups, and practise kindness every day. When we play team games, we focus on encouragement and growth—mistakes are simply part of learning.
I operate an open-door policy for all children: if anyone has a worry or wants a quiet chat, they can always come and see me during break or lunchtime.
Times Table Challenge
By the end of Year 4, children are expected to confidently recall all multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. We build fluency in school through regular activities and games, and children can continue practising at home using tools such as Times Tables Rock Stars.
