Welcome to Shepherd Primary School. I hope that you enjoy visiting our website and finding out more about our school.

I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of Shepherd Primary School, working alongside such a dedicated and creative team of staff and governors. People visiting our school, often comment on how warm and welcoming our school feels and how wonderful our school environment is.

We have created a highly inclusive school that has high expectations of all children. Our school motto is ‘Achieving Together’ and this starts right down in Nursery and Reception when children first join our school and continues through until children leave us to transfer to secondary school. During their journey at Shepherd Primary School, children learn to demonstrate our six values: Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Resilience, Reflection and Reasoning. Children play a key part in the direction of our school and are given opportunities to help to shape our school, by taking a role as Head Boy or Head Girl, an Eco-Watcher, a STEM Ambassador or a House Captain, or by serving on a key committee such as our School Council or the Wildlife and Gardening Committee.

We strive for children to develop a love of learning whilst at our school, which will carry them through their primary education and beyond. Our staff are passionate about meeting the needs of all children and giving them opportunities to succeed, by developing a curriculum and learning environment where children are engaged and feel inspired. As a result, our school timetable is full of opportunities for curriculum enrichment, including a wide variety of trips, visits, workshops and themed days in school and participation in our Forest Schools programme – you can read more about these on our school Blog https://shepherd-primary-school.primarysite.blog/

As well as ensuring that children are successful academically and reach their full potential, wellbeing is a key focus at Shepherd Primary School - we know that if we take care of children’s wellbeing first, then they are ready to learn and will be happy and thrive at school. As a result, wellbeing activities are woven into daily life at our school and children talk confidently about how they can look after their own physical and emotional wellbeing.

I am so proud of our school and of everything that the children achieve. Whilst our website gives you an excellent overview of our school, the best way to see how wonderful our school is, is to visit us in person and see our children fully engaged in school life.
