Academic Ability

Academic ability will be determined by a test and places awarded in merit order. You will need to enter your child to take the test via swherts consortium.

If your child usually receives extra time or special intervention in class then you must let South West Hertfordshire School Admissions Consortium know - immediately after registering please scan and send a copy of the written evidence from your Primary School Head or SENDCo, quoting your child’s full name, date of birth and South West Herts Reference number by email to: enquiries@swhscregistrations.co.uk. If you do not submit your evidence prior to the deadline, they may not be able to offer the special provision requested. There is no facility to send hard copy documents by post.

Children sit an academic ability test and scores are notified to parents, approximately one and a half weeks prior to secondary applications closing. This allows you to make a more informed choice of school.

There are two tests, Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning that will take approximately 45 minutes to one hour each with a short break in between the tests.

You will be informed of the test venue in advance. The venue cannot be changed.
