Year 4 Herdwick
Anglo Saxons
Welcome to Year 4
We are creative and curious and enjoy learning new skills.
As a class, we have enjoyed some great topics so far looking at: the Anglo-Saxons, Europe and Ancient Egypt; sound and electricity.
We like working as a team and are proud to be our class.
Ms Zimmatore
This is my third year teaching at Shepherd Primary School and I also have many years’ experience teaching in schools within the local area, both as class teacher and various senior leadership roles. As a child, I went to school in Rickmansworth, so joining Shepherd Primary school was almost like coming home! In addition to teaching Herdwick Class, I am also Assistant Head for curriculum, teaching and learning and English Lead. In my free time I love reading, especially children’s books and am happy to recommend my favourites to anyone! I also enjoy walking and exploring the outdoors and love to visit museums and art galleries.
Wellbeing
In Herdwick we work hard to support each other. Children work in different groups and are encouraged to work together. When playing team games, we practise positive reinforcement when mistakes are made – this is all part of our Growth Mindset that we learn and put into practice. I have an open door policy that any child having problems or worries can always pop in for a chat during break or lunch.
Times Tables Test
By the end of Year 4, the children are expected to confidently recall all of their times tables facts up to 12x12. In school, we regularly complete times tables activities to support the children in developing their fluency. At home, they can use resources such as ‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ to support their recall.
